A.I. Detective update and cover sneak preview
There’s nothing like getting your annual website bill to make you realise how long it is since you last posted on your blog.
So here’s a brief update for the New Year: the final version of A.I. Detective is definitely done. Definitely. No more edits, tweaks or smoothing out. Yes, I know I said this before, but then I did another sweep through just before Christmas, to catch (hopefully) all remaining typos and make sure every word, clause, sentence and paragraph reads how I want it to.
Of course, now I’ve announced that I can probably never look at it again in case I spot something I want to change.
I’ve just about finished work on the cover too. You can see a snippet preview of it above. Look out for a full reveal soon.
And yes, creating my own cover means I’m still planning to self-publish - so look out for more info on a launch date soon as well. I’ll probably still seek more “official” (traditional? respected? lucrative?) representation too though, and I’ll also be entering it for a few competitions to see if anything comes of that. But all things considered, self-publishing gets it out into the world faster and into the hands of the people that really matter - the readers - so I can get some idea of what you all make of it.
It also gets it out of my consciousness for a while so I can stop thinking about making more changes and concentrate on other projects. Projects like the collection of short stories I was planning to release before A.I.D. took over all my headspace!
As A.I.D. itself says, “How do they cope with it, these humans? Constantly forced to keep their minds from straying into artifice. Maybe that’s why being alone is such a daunting prospect for so many, and me now as well: the fear of having no-one to distract you from your own unreliably wandering thoughts.”
